In 2016, the drone market exploded when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted hundreds of new exemptions for companies to operate drones in the U.S. through FAA Part 107. The exemptions for commercial use stretched from insurance to agriculture industries and many in between. It is predicted that total global shipments to reach 2.4 million in 2023 – increasing at a 66.8% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). At KLC, we’re proud to partner with our customers when it comes to exploring innovative approaches to business. The sky is the limit, literally, in the drone industry. Here are some examples of how our customers are utilizing drones in their businesses.

Why Invest in Drones?

Drones can play a huge timesaving role in agriculture including crop and livestock monitoring, irrigation management, and fertilization – many drones can spray fertilizer 40 to 60 times faster than doing so by hand. Other benefits of drones include improved production and the ability to identify problems before they happen with increased crop health awareness by more frequent and thorough viewpoints.

For photographers and videographers, drones provide a new and exciting higher perspective, oftentimes with cameras that can rotate and swivel, allowing the operator many interesting angles. Photographers who utilize drones can carry a dedicated camera, GoPro-like action cameras, compact and mirrorless cameras through to high-end movie cameras.

Common Expenses Associated With Drones

The start-up costs can be prohibitive, which is where KLC comes in. Many photographers experienced in drone and videography photography recommend not only the drone you’ll use but a learner drone, a harness to stabilize the drone, the camera of course, the transmitter or controller, First Person View goggles to be able to see what your camera sees and other accessories as needed. All of these important pieces can add up, which is why we’re committed to partnering with you to expand your business when and where you need it.

And last but not least, a very 2020 topic, drones are being used to disinfect large areas like sports arenas. Utilizing drones allows team members of these large space to be redeployed to other areas of the business and allow for up to a 95% reduction in time spent cleaning areas most commonly touched like handrails, glass partitions or seating bowls when it comes to large stadiums.
